Dog in yard, but no one at home
CAPITOL HEIGHTS, G St., 6900 block, Nov. 21. Someone called to report that a dog had been tied to a front yard fence after homeowners had moved and taken their dog with them. An animal control officer picked up a 3-year-old white male beagle mix. His owner claimed him Nov. 23.
Treeing walker hound running
DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Lansdale St., 7100 block, Nov. 21. A police officer responding to a trespassing call asked Animal Management to pick up a dog running loose. An officer took a 9-month-old black male treeing walker hound mix to the shelter. The dog had no collar or tags. No one claimed him, and he was adopted Dec. 5.
Stray Lhasa apso in basement
LANHAM, Treetop Lane, 9900 block, Nov. 21. Someone found a stray dog and held him in his basement. An officer picked up a year-old white neutered male Lhasa apso mix with no collar or tags. No one claimed the dog, and he was adopted Dec. 4.
Woman's son picks up stray
UPPER MARLBORO, Woodlawn Blvd., 11200 block, Nov. 23. After a woman reported a small stray dog running loose, her son told her that he had brought it home until it could be picked up. An officer took a 2-year-old brown Chihuahua mix with no collar or tags to the shelter. Its owner did not claim it, and the dog was adopted Dec. 5.
Dog abandoned in a hallway
HYATTSVILLE, Warfield Dr., 400 block, Nov. 23. Someone saw a dog in an apartment building hallway with a pile of dog food on the floor. An animal control officer picked up a 2-year-old red male dachshund-miniature pinscher mix with no collar or tags. It was not claimed, and it was adopted Dec. 2.
The Prince George's County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions, noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Petco, 6181 Old Dobbin Lane, Columbia. The pets' foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications for the animals. Adoption fees are $75 for cats, $180 for dogs.
