Let's be honest -- most people don't drink $100 worth of booze on an average weeknight. (Or at least we hope they don't.) But if you look at the New Year's Eve packages being offered by the area's nightclubs, bars and lounges, there are many with three-digit price tags for one night of revelry.

Given the state of the economy, this sounds like a bit of a stretch, especially when you consider that, no matter the price point, New Year's Eve usually results in huge crowds, long lines and overtaxed bartenders. So, enough. Here's a list of events priced at $50 or less. Some have open bars or free food. Some have live music. Some are just neighborhood bars that are treating Dec. 31 as just another night. Most offer midnight toasts. But they're all easy on the wallet.
