The Demon Barber of Fleet Street returns to Signature Theatre for its 20th anniversary season. Stephen Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd" was the first musical presented at Signature and the first of many Sondheim productions staged by the theater. The twisted story follows a barber (four-time Helen Hayes Award winner Edward Gero) out for revenge after he's wrongfully arrested and exiled. There's murder, some nastiness involving "meat pies" made by Sweeney's partner in crime, Mrs. Lovett (Sherri L. Edelen), and a lot of blood. Directed by Eric Schaeffer.
