Virginia vs. Wake Forest

When: noon.

Where: John Paul Jones Arena, Charlottesville.

This Story

Television: WDCA (Channel 20), WNUV (Channel 54).

Radio: WTNT (570 AM).

Records: Cavaliers 14-6, 5-2; Demon Deacons 15-5, 5-3.

Who will watch?: Wake Forest arrived on Thursday evening before the snowstorm blanketed the region. With the weather expected to remain constant through Saturday, travel conditions likely will be difficult for Virginia fans who come from all over the state to watch the Cavaliers. Fans watching on television could see sections of empty seats at John Paul Jones Arena.

Holding serve: Saturday serves as the halfway point of the ACC season, and Virginia improbably has an opportunity to remain near first place if it can beat Wake Forest. Four of Virginia's next five games after Wake Forest are on the road, so the Cavaliers must hold serve against the Demon Deacons before proving its worth in opponents' arenas.

Revenge of the stars: Want to know the two most excited players on Virginia's roster for Saturday's game? Guard Sylven Landesberg and forward Mike Scott. The Cavaliers' top two players both suffered first-half foul trouble when Wake Forest beat Virginia on Jan. 23. The Cavaliers trailed by four points when Scott picked up his second foul, and the Demon Deacons' lead swelled to 19 without Landesberg and Scott on the court. After Wednesday's win over North Carolina State, both Landesberg and Scott expressed excitement -- and see an opportunity for redemption -- about Saturday's game.
