International Student Exchange needs host families for exchange students, ages 15-18, from around the world for the 2010-11 academic year. Students are screened, insured, speak English and bring their own spending money. Host families provide room and board and guidance. Students expect to share the household responsibilities and be included in typical family activities. Couples, single parents and families without children are encouraged to apply. The Loss of Loved Ones to Sudden Tragedy Foundation needs volunteers to help maintain its Web site, Facebook and Twitter applications. Retired Scientists, Engineers and Technicians, a nonprofit organization, needs volunteers to lead students in hands-on science and math experiments in elementary schools. Retired and working volunteers present programs in their fields of interest and work with teachers to spark enthusiasm for science. The Fairfax County Park Authority needs volunteers for "Lose the Training Wheels." The five-day camp teaches youths 8-18 with disabilities to ride a bicycle. The camp will be March 29-April 2 at Lee District RECenter in Franconia.
