Gardening Tip of the Week: Wait till spring to trim hydrangeas
Resist the urge to cut back hydrangeas, which will flower on stems that have survived the winter. Wait until spring growth is evident and after the last frost before trimming out any dead wood. With old hydrangeas that are congested, entirely remove up to a third of canes soon after flowering in June.
