-- A Dec. 31 A-section article about Rep. John P. Murtha's use of earmarks for federal spending projects, and the extent to which the numbers of jobs promised were delivered, incorrectly said that in 2005 the Pennsylvania Democrat steered $150 million to Caracal Inc., a technology company opening in his district. The $150 million went to the Electro-Optics Center at Penn State; the university then directed a small portion of those research funds to Caracal. The article also incorrectly described Murtha as 78 years old; he was 77 when he died Feb. 8.

-- A Reliable Source item in the March 8 Style section incorrectly said that Aretha Franklin's appearance at the previous weekend's Larry King Cardiac Foundation Gala was her first performance in the District since President Obama's inauguration in January 2009. Franklin performed at the Capitol Fourth celebration July 4, 2009.

-- An article in the March 7 issue of the Magazine, about a driving trip by two friends along the East Coast, incorrectly described the Florida Keys as being in the Caribbean Sea. They are bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.

-- A March 6 Washington Business article about a deal under which a private-equity investment firm would acquire RCN, a Herndon-based broadband company, referred to RCN chief executive Peter Aquino as Aquinas in some instances.

-- A March 2 Page One article about Mohamed Ali Samantar, the former Somali prime minister who is now the subject of a Supreme Court case involving alleged war crimes, incorrectly said that he lives in Fairfax City. He lives in Fairfax County.
