Free agent linebacker Larry Foote came to town, visited with Redskins officials and apparently is hitting the road without a new contract.
It's believed Foote still intends to make his visit to the Arizona Cardinals this week. He's expected in Phoenix on Wednesday.
Foote spent last year with his hometown Detroit Lions but the previous seven seasons was with the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing under new Redskins linebackers coach Lou Spanos.
According to an NFL.com report, Foote is seeking a contract that would exceed the one Scott Fujita signed Monday with Cleveland. Fujita reportedly will receive $14 million over three years, with about $8 million guaranteed.
Though Foote spent last year playing in Jim Schwartz's 4-3 defense, he would likely be an inside linebacker in a 3-4 system.
The Steelers are reportedly interested in bringing Foote back to Pittsburgh, too.
The Redskins also hosted running back Willie Parker and nose tackle Maake Kemoeatu on Tuesday.
No D.C. visit planned for Bryant
Free agent wide receiver Antonio Bryant does not currently have a visit scheduled in Washington, according to a league source.
It seems the initial report might have overstated the level of talks between the Redskins and Bryant's camp.
A visit could still be scheduled but as of right now, it doesn't appear talks between the two sides have reached that level yet.
A report in the Tampa Tribune stated Bryant would be coming to town to visit with the Redskins. Well, naturally, there was a conflicting report from the competing St. Petersburg Times that also cites Bryant's agent as a source but says that Bryant doesn't have a Washington trip on his schedule.
The agent, Lamont Smith, hasn't responded to messages from The Post for comment Tuesday afternoon, but he told the St. Pete Times that Bryant will visit a couple of other teams. He wouldn't specify those teams.
What we do know for now: Bryant was with the Bengals on Tuesday in Cincinnati.
ESPN.com initially reported that Parker would make a trip to Kansas City to chat with the Chiefs. But the network later reported that Kansas City agreed to terms Tuesday with former Jets running back Thomas Jones, which will probably fill the Chiefs' burning need for a veteran runner in their backfield.
Parker arrived in the area on Monday and met with coaches through the evening and again on Tuesday at Redskins Park.
