After being drafted fourth overall by the Cubs in 1995, Wood makes his first major league start at 20. Four starts later, he pitches a one-hit, no-walk, 20-strikeout game against the Astros. He throws 122 pitches, one of eight outings that season in which he throws 120 plus.

Wood tears his UCL in his first spring start and undergoes surgery. He would not pitch again that season.

After returning in 2000 and continuing to battle

shoulder injuries, Wood is selected to the all-star team.

2007: Wood moves to the Cubs' bullpen.

2008: After Wood tallies 34 saves, the Cubs

make it clear that he will not be re-signed. On Dec. 10,

he signs a two-year contract with the Indians.

2009: Wood goes 3-3 with 20 saves for Cleveland.
