$5 or less: SWAN Day
Women's History Month may be winding down, but this weekend offers one more chance to celebrate. The Georgetown Theatre Company and Women in Film & Video have put together a day of free performances, film screenings and readings by female artists as part of the third annual SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day. Events take place at various Georgetown venues: At Barnes & Noble, actress Deepti Gupta talks about growing up in India; Grace Church hosts staged readings and one-act plays; and at MOCA Gallery, troupe Curvy by Nature performs sketch comedy. Finish things up with a 7 p.m. play reading and discussion of "Belle Parricide," a piece that looks at Beatrice Cenci, the 16th-century Italian woman famed for killing her abusive father.
Begins at noon on Saturday. 703-271-7770.See the Web site for a full schedule of events. www.georgetowntheatre.org/swanday2010.html. Free.
