Metro approves pedestrian bridge
Metro has given the green light to the D.C. Department of Transportation to construct a bicycle and pedestrian bridge at the Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood Metro station.
The District is paying $4 million for the bridge, which will allow more commuters to ride a bike or walk to the Metro station. It will also provide access to the Metropolitan Branch Trail, an eight-mile shared-use trail from Silver Spring to Washington, that is being built by the District. The bridge is to open in fall 2011.
