Why the Magic can win: Dwight Howard is the best defensive big man in the league, becoming the first player to lead the league in blocks and rebounds for two years in a row. The Magic went 23-5 after all-star break. Vince Carter returns to the postseason for the first time in three years and finally gets a chance to make a deep playoff run with one of the most talented teams in the league.

Why the Bobcats can win: Michael Jordan's Bobcats are making their first playoff trip in franchise history, but they have a Hall of Fame coach in Larry Brown and an all-star in Gerald Wallace. Charlotte led in the league in defensive efficiency and tenacious playing style will make the Bobcats a tough out.

Difference maker: Stephen Jackson, Bobcats. Jackson brings considerable playoff experience and unyielding confidence. He won a title with San Antonio in 2003 and helped lead Golden State to a first-round upset of Dallas in 2007.

Bottom line: Magic in six.
