Across the country, the General Services Administration owns or leases 326 million square feet of space, enough to fill more than 5,600 football fields from goal post to goal post.

-- The GSA collects $8.5 billion in rent annually from such tenants as the FBI, IRS, HHS and DHS and uses the money to run its buildings.
