HOV lane schedule to be modified

The weekday schedule for HOV lanes on Interstate 95/395 in Virginia will be modified for the next six months to help ease construction-related delays, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.

From May 3 until Nov. 1, the northbound high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes will close at 10 a.m. rather than 11 a.m., and the southbound HOV lanes will open at noon rather than 1 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

The temporary schedule change will help ease delays on I-95 south, where one lane is closed between the Fairfax County Parkway and Route 123 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays. The lane closure is part of the I-95 widening project. The current HOV-3 schedule remains in effect from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3:30 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
