The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, a D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman said. He was said to be in his late teens or early 20s.

Police and fire department rescue workers were called to the 4200 block of Fourth Street SE about 3:45 p.m., said Gwen Crump, a police spokeswoman.

Police had not identified the body and said it was unclear how long it had been there. The case is being investigated as a homicide, and police are awaiting the results of an autopsy, Crump said. Officials did not know whether there was connection between the man and the body.
