U Street Movie Series: 'This Is It'

The cultural and musical heritage of the U Street neighborhood makes it the perfect backdrop for this outdoor showcase of movies that explore music. The monthly series kicks off Tuesday with "This Is It," the Michael Jackson concert documentary from last year. The other films on the schedule are Wim Wenders's 1999 documentary "Buena Vista Social Club" (July 13); 2009's "The Soloist," starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. (Aug. 10); and the musical documentaries "Soul Power," about the 1974 music festival in Zaire that featured James Brown and B.B. King, and "Duke Ellington's Washington" (both Sept. 14). All rain dates are one week later.
