-- Carla Hall of "Top Chef" fame and Alchemy Caterers has harnessed her sweet and savory "Hootie" powers into eight-ounce tins or cello bags of 30 to 40 mini cookies. The sweet Cookie Collection includes oatmeal with cranberries and white chocolate; Hawaiian wedding cookie; classic chocolate chip; chewy Black Forest meringue; peanut butter biscotti dipped in chocolate; and pecan shortbread with vanilla salt. Savories include cheddar pecan; spiced Pleasant Ridge reserve; blue cheese walnut with curry; and Parmesan shortbread. Available for $8 each at the Mount Rainier farmers market, 3200 Mt. Rainier Ave., on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), and at Moorenko's, 8030-B Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, 301-565-7804. For more information, go to http://www.alchemycaterers.com or e-mail cookies@alchemycaterers.com.

-- Ikea's Drommar doilies are the easiest way to dress up dessert on a cake plate. Seven inches in diameter, made of polypropylene. Reusable; hand wash only. Available in a four-pack, $1.49. At Ikea stores, or order online at http://www.ikea.com.

-- It's hard to keep our hands off all-natural Q.bel chocolate-covered rolls and wafer bars, which we like to think of as sophisticated Kit Kats. The Nyack, N.Y, company launched six flavors in 2009 (peanut butter in milk chocolate rolls and bars; crunchy crispy in dark and milk chocolate; crispy in dark and milk chocolate) and two in January (double-dark wafer bar and mint dark chocolate wafer bar; the latter is also vegan). Available at Whole Foods for $1.39 and at Wegmans for $1.29.
