Blaze damages popular D.C. bar

The Argonaut Bar, a popular gathering place on the1400 block of H Street NE near Maryland Avenue, is closed following a Sunday morning fire that caused significant damage to the kitchen and downstairs areas.

The fire happened at approximately 7:30 A.M. and there were no injuries, Pete Piringer, spokesman for D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services said.

The fire is still under investigation and appears to have started in the kitchen. The blaze caused severe heat and smoke damage throughout the building.
