Isa Johnson and Maddison Glodeckert knew just the theme that would give their joint 16th birthday party that extra-special touch.
"Twilight," of course. With 18 of their mutual friends to celebrate with them, the girls caught the debut of "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" early Wednesday.
"I'm like floating on clouds right now," said Johnson, who was sporting a tiara for the occasion. "I'm a really big 'Twilight' fan."
Dozens of other "Twilight" followers eagerly lined up inside of the Regal Gallery Place Stadium 14 theater in Northwest Washington to catch the midnight showing of the movie series' third installment.
The movie was booked in a record 4,416 theaters for its debut Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
After "Eclipse" was over, moviegoers gave it mixed reviews.
"It was a lot more frustrating than I thought it was going to be, " said Bill Murray, 31.
"I thought it was fantastic," said Gus Golden, 33. "It had a little bit in it for everyone."
For some 'Twilight" fanatics, the trek to the late-night showing was worth the trip.
"I loved it, " said Leonora Brooks, 46. "It was better than the first two," said Brooks, who traveled from New York to Washington to see the movie with her sister and niece.
"I'm going to go home and brag to all my family that I saw it before them," said Mackenzie Erkes, 12, who was visiting from Seattle.
