19-year-old man killed in shooting

D.C. homicide detectives were investigating a shooting Saturday in Northeast that killed a 19-year-old man who lived three blocks away from where he was found.

Officers responded to the shooting, in the 6100 block of Banks Place, about 12:10 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release. They found Joshua Hopkins with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital and died shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Hopkins lived on 62nd Street NE, near the District's border with Seat Pleasant, when he was shot near the Watts Branch Playground.

Officials didn't provide a description of a suspect.

D.C. police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Officers can be reached at 888-919-CRIME.

Anonymous tipsters may also be eligible for a $1,000 reward from the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit. They can be reached at 866-411-TIPS.

Man fatally shot in Southeast

A 66-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in Southeast Washington, D.C. police said Sunday.

John H. Pernell was found about 4:20 p.m. in the 3000 block of Nelson Place SE, officers said. No street address was given for him, and details of the shooting were not known.
