Barn collapse injures animals
SILVER SPRING, Layhill Road, 16000 block, June 23. An animal services supervisor was dispatched to the scene of a collapsed barn at the request of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue. Rescue officers wanted advice from the division and from a veterinarian at the scene about whether two elderly animals, a horse and a mule, should be sedated before being extracted from the wreckage. The animals were lightly sedated and removed from the barn, and the horse was later euthanized. The mule was expected to recover.
Snake found in bathroom
BOYDS, Crossview Road, 18000 block, date. A humane society field agent was dispatched in response to a homeowner's call to the division about a large blacksnake in a bathroom. The agent captured the snake and release it outside.
