One dead, one hurt in Anacostia fire

One woman died and another was in serious condition after being brought out of a burning rowhouse in Anacostia on Saturday night, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of W Street SE, said fire department spokesman Pete Piringer. He said the death was the city's second in a fire this year.

Arrest made in July 3 homicide

A Fort Washington man was arrested Friday in the July 3 homicide of a 19-year-old District resident, D.C. police said.

Antoine Sadique Taylor, 29, was arrested in the 4600 block of Minnesota Avenue NE, police said. He has been charged in the fatal shooting of Joshua Hopkins, who lived in Northeast.

Streets to close for bike race

The Capital Criterium bike race will close some streets and draw lots of cycling and pedestrian traffic to the downtown area along Pennsylvania Avenue NW on Sunday. The course is along Pennsylvania Avenue between Ninth and 13th streets, up to F Street.
