After testing his sore knee on the practice field, Albert Haynesworth did not take his conditioning test early Monday morning at Redskins Park, which means he'll miss at least two more practices.

As players began to practice, Haynesworth joined them on the field and watched his fellow defensive linemen go through a series of drills. As practice began, he wore his jersey and a cap -- but no pads -- carrying his helmet with him. He cannot participate in practice until he successfully passes Coach Mike Shanahan's conditioning drill. Haynesworth failed in his first two attempts, but because of swelling in his knee, he has not attempted the test since last Friday.

Early Monday morning, the Pro Bowler jogged lightly on the field in anticipation of his third attempt to pass the test of two, timed 300-yard shuttle runs. But he quickly determined his knee was too sore for him to run hard. Haynesworth and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett talked as they walked off the field and returned to the complex's main building.

After Haynesworth injured his knee while running Friday, team medical personnel suggested he rest and receive therapy before attempting the test again. Coach Mike Shanahan will not permit Haynesworth, who missed all but one day of Shanahan's first offseason program, to participate in practice until he passes the test. It is unclear whether Haynesworth plans to run again in the next few days.

Haynesworth, who is far behind his teammates in learning the team's new 3-4 scheme, has worked individually with Haslett and defensive line coach Jacob Burney while his teammates have practiced. If he can pass the conditioning test, Haynesworth is expected to start at right end this season.
