'Chess' at Signature Theatre

Thursday, August 5, 2010

The rock opera "Chess" ostensibly revolves around a chess match between an American and a Russian. But it's really about a love triangle involving the two players and the woman who has a complicated relationship with both of them. The production comes to Arlington loaded with star power: It originated on Broadway in 1988 with music from Abba's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus ("Mamma Mia!") and lyrics by Tim Rice ("Evita" and "Jesus Christ Superstar"). The musical stars Broadway veterans, Euan Morton, Jill Paice and Jeremy Kushnier.
