No MPD escort for Salahis

Well, so much for that whole "reality" thing. Producers of "The Real Housewives of D.C." said Sunday that Tareq and Michaele Salahi got a police escort to a party from a U.S. Park Police car -- not a D.C. police vehicle, as it seemed to appear on last week's episode.

The sequence -- taped in October at the Park at Fourteenth nightclub and showing a squad car, lights flashing, pulling up ahead of the couple's white stretch limo -- prompted the Metropolitan Police Department to launch an internal investigation after an inquiry by The Post. It's a no-no for police officers to escort regular civilians to parties. But a rep for Half Yard Productions said Sunday a bit of movie magic was at work in that sequence. "We had someone review all of the footage from that party and the police escort for the Salahis' limo was a Park Police escort from the K-9 unit," Bronagh Hanley, the company's publicist, wrote in an e-mail. "The MPD car featured in the episode was not the escort car and was edited into the shot incorrectly." Reps for the Salahis did not return e-mails asking for an explanation, and a spokesman for the Park Police declined to comment.

Gabor in ill health

Zsa Zsa Gabor is in critical condition after having two blood clots removed at a Los Angeles Hospital. The 93-year-old actress has been ailing for the better part of the summer -- in July she suffered a broken hip, followed by replacement surgery.
