Virginia DMV extends hours to clear backlog from computer crash

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will be open for extended hours in coming days to serve about 35,000 to 45,000 customers who were unable to renew their driver's licenses during a week-long computer outage.

-- All 74 DMV locations will be open until 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

-- The following DMV offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday: Abingdon, Alexandria, Charlottesville, Chesapeake, Chesterfield, Hampton, Harrisonburg, Leesburg, Lynchburg, Richmond-Broad Street, Roanoke, Virginia Beach-Buckner and Woodbridge. The Fair Oaks office will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
