The following cases were received recently by the Prince George's County Department of Environmental Resources Animal Management Group. Dog of commerce

ACCOKEEK, Livingston Rd., 17400 block, Aug. 18. A shop employee reported a stray dog that had been hanging around in a side lot of the business for three or four days. An animal control officer picked up a 4-year-old white female bichon frise that had a brown leather collar but no identification. When not claimed, the dog was adopted Aug. 28.

Dog chases kids on bikes

BRENTWOOD, 39th Pl., 3400 block, Aug. 19. Someone reported that a stray dog was chasing kids on bikes. An officer picked up a 5-month-old white male Dogo Argentino mix with no identification. The dog's owner was located and was reunited with him that day.

A Shih Tzu's fashion runway

LAUREL, Oxwell Lane, 8700 block, Aug. 19. A woman reported that a dog wearing a green sweater was lying on the grassy area of her driveway. An officer picked up a 12-year-old white Shih Tzu wearing a green nylon collar. The owner was located, and the two were reunited Aug. 21.

Not a recyclable item

LANHAM, Cheshire Lane, 5100 block, Aug. 20. A woman reported a opossum in her recycle bin that was barely moving. An officer removed a healthy opossum and returned it to the wild.

Dog keeps drivers in their cars

SUITLAND, Navy Day Dr., 3400 block, Aug. 21. Animal management received a report about a dog that was running loose, approaching people and not letting them leave their cars. An officer picked up a 2-year-old brown female Chinese Shar-Pei with no identification. The owner was located, and the dog was returned home Aug. 23.

Unresponsive bulldog on porch

BOWIE, Lisa Lane, 6500 block, Aug. 22. A caller reported a sick-looking dog that was lying on her neighbor's porch, curled up and unresponsive. An animal control officer picked up a 3-year-old white male American bulldog. The owner was located, and the dog was returned home Aug. 27.

Sick squirrel under the couch

BOWIE, Ithan Lane, 13200 block, Aug. 22. Someone reported an animal that looked like a chipmunk under a couch in a home. An officer removed an ill gray squirrel and took it to a wildlife rehabilitator.

A snake parked in the garage

BRANDYWINE, Elkton Terr., 6600 block, Aug. 25. An animal control officer removed a healthy snake that was found in an attached garage and returned it to the wild.

Annapolis pet adoption event

The Prince George's County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 2601 Housley Rd., Annapolis. The pets' foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications. Adoption fees are $75 for cats, $180 for dogs. For information, call 301-262-5625 or visit http://www.pgspca.org.
