Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams has been ruled out for Saturday's ACC opener against Boston College after suffering a right hamstring injury in last week's 49-27 win over East Carolina.

There is no timetable for Williams's return, but Coach Frank Beamer indicated this week that the injury was not serious.

Williams, who gained 1,655 yards last season, will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by junior Darren Evans. Sophomore David Wilson should also see extensive action.

Also listed on the injury report is backup fullback Josh Oglesby. He will miss Saturday's game with an ankle injury that he suffered against East Carolina.

Seven years after last playing as Big East rivals, nothing's changed in the Miami-Pitt series.

Jacory Harris led quick touchdown drives to start each half and the No. 19 Hurricanes dominated the Panthers much like they used to, winning 31-3 Thursday night.

Harris had two more floater-type interceptions like the four he threw in a 28-14 loss to No. 2 Ohio State two weeks ago, but shook them off to throw for 248 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Pitt Coach Dave Wannstedt dismissed freshman defensive back Jeff Knox (DeMatha) from the team following an off-campus incident. . . .

Brigham Young and West Virginia will play at FedEx Field on Sept. 24, 2016, the Washington Redskins announced, a day after Maryland and Texas said they would play at FedEx in 2018. . . .

Golden State Coach Don Nelson is expected to part ways with the Warriors on Monday, an NBA source told the Associated Press, possibly ending the career of the league's victory leader.
