Magazine tabs Georgetown's Austin Freeman as Big East preseason player of the year

Georgetown senior guard Austin Freeman has been named the Blue Ribbon Yearbook's Big East preseason player of the year, and the Hoyas are ranked 17th in publication's preseason poll.

Freeman led Georgetown in scoring last season, averaging 16.5 points per game, good for 11th in the conference. The DeMatha graduate and 2007 All-Met player of the year also was second on the Hoyas in three pointers (59), shot 52.5 percent from the floor and made 85.6 percent of his free throws.

Freeman currently sits 27th on Georgetown's all-time scoring list with 1,197 points. If he equals last season's production, the Mitchellville native could crack the Hoyas' top 15.
