Master event planner Andre Wells designed a magical environment for Dawn Scott and Earl Stafford Jr.'s Sept. 18 wedding. After the ceremony the couple's 300 guests retreated to the groom's parents home in McLean for an outdoor reception in their tented back patio. A string quartet played during cocktail hour as guest mingled and marveled at a photo display of both families reaching back through several generations.

"We wanted to create a beautiful look that would read Fall but also alfresco and eclectic. My style along with the bride and groom's style is more organic and not matchy match," says Wells. "We wanted to create a sense of family and wanted the guests to be comfortable and have fun."

Ambiance: Lush elegance. Wells layered shades of purple, gold and amber throughout the tented dining area. Amaryllis Inc. set the tables with large cream and tangerine arrangements and vases of floating flowers. Frost Lighting illuminated the space with soft light that rose as the sun set during dinner. After the cake was cut, guests moved into a lounge-style space with plush velvet couches flanking a dance floor that had the couple's initials etched in light. Sugarplum Tent Company provided the massive tents and flooring for both areas.

The food: Occasions Caterers served passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour. For dinner guests were served a trip of Autumn soups -- carrot, tomato and apple butternut squash -- filet of black bass, corn souffle, and summer vegetables. Famed cake maker Sylvia Weinstock personally delivered a massive, cream-colored cake decorated with blush and orange fondant flowers.

Photography: Davide De Pas was the lead photographer. Blue Sky Films provided the videography.

The Music: Jazz Pianist Marcus Johnson and his band played during dinner. DJ Sixth Sense deejayed the reception.

The dress: Scott wore a fairy-tale style strapless gown with a beaded bodice by Monique Lhuillier.
