Age: 73

Residence: Potomac.

Education: BS, home economics, journalism, Kansas State University; teacher certification, University of Maryland.

Occupation: Retired teacher, Montgomery County public schools.

Elected offices/civic activities: Current second vice president, Maryland Federation of Republican Women; former chairman, Montgomery County Federation of Republican Women; Montgomery County chairman, Ehrlich for Governor, 2006; Montgomery County co-chair, Bush-Cheney, 2004; former member, Republican Central Committee, Montgomery County; former Montgomery County Education Association delegate.

What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"High taxes that prevent small-business growth; inheritance taxes that jeopardize family-owned farms, businesses and homes; high property taxes that present a strain on retired people, living in their own homes; and hidden taxes that affect all income levels, especially lower-income families. Less taxes would allow for more flexible spending, which aids businesses."

Why should voters elect you?

"Adding balance to the Montgomery County delegation adds more clout and aid in getting back more of the dollar. A one-party system is dangerous."
