Yelping dog at doorstep

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Addison Rd., 5400 block, Oct. 3. A woman reported that an injured stray dog was lying by her front door yelping. The dog appeared to have been hit by a car. An officer picked up a 5-year-old brown female beagle mix. The dog was reunited with her owner that day.

German shepherd on the loose

BELTSVILLE, Odell Rd., 5400 block, Oct. 3. An animal control officer picked up a 13-year-old male German shepherd mix found running loose. The dog was claimed by its owner Oct. 6.

Toy poodle is found

UPPER MARLBORO, Ladova Way, 3600 block, Oct. 4. A woman reported holding a stray dog that she had found the previous day. An officer picked up a white toy poodle from the woman's house. The owner was found and was reunited with the dog Oct. 7.

Uninvited basement dweller

BOWIE, Indian Wells Ct., 800 block, Oct. 4. An animal control officer removed a healthy blacksnake from a woman's basement and returned it to the wild.
