Stacey Smith, 28, is a teacher. Vincent Lynch, 31, is a carpenter. They live in Gaithersburg.

Wedding Date: Oct. 10

Location: Crowne Plaza Rockville

Guests: 134

How they met: In December 2008, Stacey and Vincent bonded over a mutual love of music at a karaoke contest in Germantown. When the contest was over they moved to another karaoke spot, where they sang "Love Shack" together.

The proposal: A year and a half later, Stacey wanted to practice for an upcoming "American Idol" audition, so the two returned to the bar where they first met. After Vincent's rendition of Edwin McCain's "I'll Be," he hushed the audience and called Stacey to the stage, where he knelt and proposed (much to the crowd's delight).

The wedding: He's Catholic and she's Jewish, so the couple was married by a priest-rabbi duo in an interfaith ceremony. They centered the reception around a music motif, incorporating details such as a music-note ice sculpture, a performance from Vincent's barbershop singing group and tables named after love ballads.

The honeymoon: The newlyweds had scheduled a five-day cruise to Mexico, but a hurricane detoured them to Key West, Fla., where their visit was filled with parasailing, massages and -- of course -- karaoke.
