Records: No. 2 seed Terrapins 18-2-1; No. 15 Nittany Lions 14-7-1.

At stake: Quarterfinal against No. 7 South Carolina (13-6-2) or No. 10 Michigan (15-4-3) next weekend.

Outlook: Maryland has won 14 straight, two short of the program record set in the 2008 championship season. Since a 4-3 season-opening loss to Michigan State, the Terrapins have won 11 in a row at home, including a 4-0 rout of Penn in the second round last Sunday. Junior GK Zac MacMath has registered six shutouts in the past seven matches to increase his season total to a national-best 14. With 58 goals, Maryland also leads the country in scoring. Junior MF Matt Kassel, senior F Jason Herrick and junior F Casey Townsend have combined for 27 goals and 21 assists. Nittany Lions junior Corey Hertzog is the nation's goal-scoring leader with 20, including a hat trick against Old Dominion last weekend. Senior MF Matheus Braga is tied for the most assists with 17. The teams met in the second round of the 2009 NCAA tournament, with Maryland winning at Penn State, 2-1, on Herrick's goal in the 86th minute. This year's match features twins from Rockville on opposite sides: Maryland D Alex Lee (21 starts) and Penn State D Justin Lee (22 starts).
