Tysons and other suburbs planned to transform

With one of the strongest economies in the country but some of the worst traffic, many of the region's suburbs are aiming to remake themselves into walkable, transit-oriented neighborhoods with lively streetscapes and retail. No part of the region -- or perhaps the country -- is setting itself up for a bigger transformation than Tysons Corner, for which an amended master plan was passed in June. Arlington County passed a new plan for Crystal City in September, and other areas aren't far behind.
