Sports franchises often give an area its public face -- as well as a place for business deals to get done. We have five teams profiled here, but for the purposes of the Post 200, the corporate owner of the Wizards and Capitals, Monumental Sports & Entertainment, counts as one entity.

D.C. United had a 6-20-4 record in Major League Soccer in 2010, the worst mark in the club's 15-season history and one of the poorest in league annals. United's 21 goals set the MLS record for scoring futility. Curt Onalfo was fired eight months into his first season as head coach. The club continues to explore opportunities for a new stadium and owner Will Chang is seeking secondary investors. On the bright side, Andy Najar was named MLS Rookie of the Year, United's first such honor since Ben Olsen earned the award in 1998.
