A man walking across Richmond Highway in Fairfax County on Saturday night was hit by a vehicle and killed.

Police say the man, who has not been publicly identified pending family notification, was crossing east to west, just north of Janna Lee Avenue, at 9:52 p.m. when a Jeep Grand Cherokee struck him. Police said the driver, a 58-year-old Maryland man, remained on the scene, and officers do not expect that charges will be filed. Neither speed nor alcohol was a factor.

The victim, described by police as a Hispanic man in his 50s, was not in the crosswalk. He was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where was pronounced dead at 10:37 p.m.
