Volunteer Fairfax and George Mason University will hold a family volunteer day Monday. Families with elementary school-age children will complete service projects to benefit populations served by FACETS, Fairfax 4-H, Herndon Senior Center, the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia, Operation Military Kids and the Orphan Foundation of America. The Assistance League of Northern Virginia needs volunteers to help pack food for children in need in Fairfax and Prince William counties schools in conjunction with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. day of service. Inova Fairfax Hospital needs volunteers to work in the reception and information desk areas throughout the hospital campus. www.inova.org.

The Phoenix Rising Meal Program needs volunteers to help prepare and assemble bag lunches and assist with delivery to homeless people living in the woods, their vehicles and in motels along the Route 1 corridor in the Alexandria area. 703-971-5151, admin@franconiaumc.org, www.franconiaumc.org.

Meals on Wheels needs volunteer drivers to deliver meals to older people who cannot prepare meals for themselves. Meals are delivered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Auxiliary needs adults to work in its thrift shop near Fairfax Circle. Duties include receiving merchandise, operating a cash register, setting up displays and helping customers. 703-273-3519, inovafairoakshospitalthriftshop@inova.org.
