Date Lab: It only took us three years to get them together

Alex: I'm bad at flirting. That's one of my flaws. [But] I'd say there was definitely chemistry. Absolutely.

Holley: Toward the end, after trivia, the waitress came around and asked us if we wanted another round, and he said no and I said yes. And then when I was almost done with my drink, he said that he had work in the morning and that he wanted to get going.

Alex: It was like 11:30 when we headed out. I tripped over the rug on the way out and then I walked her to the Metro. We hugged and exchanged numbers.

Holley: He started to get a little awkward when he asked for my number. It was cute. [And] he asked if I wanted to get together [later that week]. I said, "Yeah, that would be great."

Alex: I'm hoping that happens. I'd [rate the date] a 4.5 [out of 5]. It turned out that she was exactly the kind of person that I'm interested in.

Holley: I would [rate the date] a 4. I usually like guys that are a little more rough around the edges, but the more I think about him, the more I'm attracted to him.

Update: The two got together for a second date, but both say it didn't go so well. "I'm pretty clueless when it comes to dating, so I got nervous and awkward like I always do," Alex admits. Holley says she had fun but, "there was a little something missing." Too bad. "I still do have a crush on her," Alex says, but between the geographic challenges and the missing spark, a third date looks unlikely.
