Coach Seth Cameron entered sixth-ranked Forest Park into the Loudoun Valley Duals for the first time last weekend largely to face No. 4 Westfield, so when tournament directors sent out the original round-robin schedule in October and it didn't include a dual between the area powers, Cameron asked them to make a change.

"I want to make sure we see all the top teams somewhere," Cameron said. "I knew they had a lot of tough guys [in weight divisions] where our tough guys are at, so I asked."

The directors agreed, but accidentally sent out the original schedule to coaches before the event, so neither Cameron nor Westfield Coach Chuck Hoskins knew their teams would be wrestling each other for sure until they arrived at the first day of the two-day event on Friday.

After the confusion - and some last-minute, late-night scouting by Hoskins - Forest Park and Westfield met Saturday afternoon in what became the featured dual of the 12-team tournament.

Westfield won 37-22, taking all five matches that were won by decision, and finished 8-0 in the event to earn the team tournament championship.

"We won the close matches and that was the difference," Hoskins said. "We needed every single person to bring their 'A' game and we just about did."

The two best matches of the dual came at 112 and 140, where Westfield won both bouts that featured state-level wrestlers on both sides.

Westfield's Brett Campbell scored a two-count as time expired to beat Skyler Trumpower, 4-2, at 112, and Westfield's Beau Donohue overcame an early 8-0 deficit to beat Jacob Kingett, 13-10, at 140.

Forest Park finished second in the event with a 7-1 dual record, followed by Freedom-South Riding and Osbourn who both went 5-2.
