VIRGINIA

Possible measles exposure at Dulles

Loudoun County health officials said people at Dulles International Airport on Feb. 20 may have been exposed to a person with measles.

Officials said people who were in the International Arrivals and Baggage Claim level of the main terminal from 3:15 to 7:15 p.m. that day may have been exposed. Officials are contacting people on a plane who were at risk.

Officials recommend that anyone with symptoms of measles, which include a fever greater than 101 degrees, call a health-care provider to discuss care before going to a doctor's office or hospital.

Legislature extends annual session

The Virginia General Assembly was unable to complete revisions to the state's two-year budget Saturday and announced plans to extend its annual legislative session.

House and Senate negotiators continued meeting Saturday, but differences in spending on public safety, higher education and social services remained.

The 46-day session was scheduled to end Saturday. It will be the sixth session extension in a decade.

Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R) spoke to legislators Saturday and encouraged them to "reach a quick resolution,'' spokesman Tucker Martin said.

The Democratic-led Senate and the Republican-controlled House planned to complete work on the $78 billion budget Sunday.
