SUVs leased while D.C. solar-panel users are left in the lurch
The District government's decision to kill a program to help residents like me install solar-energy systems and shift the money to cover a tiny portion of its budget debt is deplorable ["In the red, D.C. backs out on aid for green energy," Metro, Feb. 28]. And to do it, as The Post recently reported, while D.C. Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown and Mayor Vincent C. Gray have been busy leasing gas-hogging SUVs - at taxpayer expense - says so much about the D.C. government's priorities and values.
The monthly cost of leasing these oversized, wasteful vehicles could cover most of the District's contribution for a resident's solar installation. We should be expanding this program to cover residents with limited incomes, not killing it.
