Alfred L. Beer, legislative analyst
Alfred L. Beer, 63, a legislative analyst with the Energy Department from 1980 to 2009, died Feb. 15 at Suburban Hospital. He had kidney disease.
Mr. Beer was a resident of Bethesda.
At the Energy Department, he counseled senior managers on congressional reporting requirements and helped develop a legislative correspondence tracking system.
Alfred Laurence Beer was born in Dallas. He received a bachelor's degree in Shakespearean literature from the old U.S. International University in San Diego in 1969.
From 1971 to 1978, he performed logistics work with the Defense Department.
Mr. Beer was a member of the American Jewish Congress and was president of its D.C. chapter. He had been a longtime member of Adas Israel Congregation in Washington.
Mr. Beer enjoyed photography and played duplicate bridge.
His marriage to Angie Plummer ended in divorce.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Linda Rothbaum Beer of Bethesda; a son from his second marriage, Jeremy Beer of Bethesda; and a brother.
