Renzo J. Renzi, 79, who was director of support services for the Falls Church school district from the early 1970s until his retirement in 1996, died Feb. 9 of a heart attack at a hospital in Greenville, S.C.

Mr. Renzi was a Northern Virginia resident for 45 years before moving to South Carolina in 2004.

Mr. Renzi oversaw the school district's building maintenance, bus fleet, cafeteria staff and new construction projects.

Renzo Joseph Renzi was born in Archbald, Pa. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Pennsylvania State University and received an engineering certificate from Johnson College in Scranton, Pa.

From 1959 until the early 1970s, Mr. Renzi worked on spacecraft communication systems for a government contractor in Annandale.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marcia Ogazoly Renzi of Simpsonville, S.C.; four children, Bob Renzi of Ashburn, Chris Renzi of Greenville, S.C., Dave Renzi of Fairfax County and Lori Darter of Johnson City, Tenn.; two sisters; and five grandchildren.
