Bill Gates is no longer the richest person in the world, and he has no one to blame but himself.

Gates, who co-founded the huge computer company Microsoft, won't be at the top of the richest list because he has given away more than a third of his money to charity.

How much money are we talking about? Well, Gates and his wife, Melinda, have donated $28 billion (that's $28,000,000,000) to the foundation they created to improve education in this country and health conditions for people around the world.

Forbes magazine will release its annual list today, and it's expected that the top three will be Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, worth about $60 billion; Gates, worth about $49 billion; and investor Warren Buffett, worth about $47 million.

Sure, Gates is still really, really rich, and you could say that his giving doesn't affect him or his family. But think about this: Do you give a third of your allowance to charity?
