President Obama, missing in action? How predictable

Tuesday, March 8, 2011; 8:37 PM

Ruth Marcus showed surprise at President Obama's failure to take action on big issues ["Where's Obama?," op-ed, March 2]. I am surprised at her short memory. When Mr. Obama was running for president, The Post reported the astonishing number of times that, as a senator, Mr. Obama voted "present" rather than take a stand.

An Oct. 17, 2008, article headlined "A Rising Political Star Adopts a Low-Key Strategy" stated, "Obama largely avoided major partisan debates such as those over judicial nominations and immigration."

Why, now, is Ms. Marcus or anyone surprised that he ducks issues? This was clearly predictable.
