Loretto D. Desjardins, cleaning company owner

Loretto D. Desjardins, 72, who co-founded and operated two Lorton-based cleaning businesses, Clean Inc. and Trash Away Inc., died Feb. 7 at a hospital in Hackensack, N.J. She had an aneurysm.

Ms. Desjardins, a McLean resident, moved to the Washington area in 1963 to work for Levitt and Sons. There, she designed the interiors of homes in one the company's planned communities in Bowie.

Inspired by her experiences in decorating, she founded a cleaning business in 1969 named Hazel Corp., which later expanded to include landscaping and snow removal.

In 1990, Ms. Desjardins and her friend, Lee Gigliotti, founded Clean Inc. In 2008, they created a partner recycling and trash removal service, Trash Away Inc.

Loretto Des Anges Desjardins was a native of Windsor, Ontario, and attended Wayne State University in Detroit.

Her marriage to Daniel Levitan ended in divorce.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Lounder of Baltimore.
