Thomas J. 'Jeb' Wingfield, general contractor

Thomas J. "Jeb" Wingfield, who worked more than four decades as a general contractor in the Washington area, died Jan. 25 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore after a stroke. He was 61.

Mr. Wingfield's residential construction business was based in Laurel, where he had lived for more than 50 years.

Thomas Johnson Wingfield was a Washington native and 1967 graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville.

He received a bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of Maryland in 1971.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Kay Annette Taylor Wingfield of Laurel; three children, Sarah Ann Wingfield of Silver Spring and Maxwell Taylor Wingfield and William Clark Wingfield, both of Laurel; his mother, Betty Wingfield of Laurel; and a sister.
