LA PAZ, Bolivia -- Bolivian prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant for the wife of a top counternarcotics official who U.S. officials say ran a cocaine-trafficking band.

Prosecutors said Thursday that Lourdes Nieves hasn't been seen since retired Gen. Rene Sanabria was arrested in Panama on Feb. 24 and expelled to Miami to face trafficking charges.

Nieves is among three fugitives sought in a case that has been a major embarrassment for President Evo Morales.

Interior Minister Sacha Llorenti has said that one of the fugitives is suspected of having infiltrated Sanabria's organization on behalf of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Morales expelled the DEA in late 2008 for allegedly inciting his opponents.
