Getting there

British Airways offers one-stop flights from Washington Dulles and BWI Marshall to Glasgow from $692 round trip.

Trains depart for Milngavie from both Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street several times an hour. One-way fare is about $9. Trains return to Glasgow Central from Inverness every two hours. Fares vary widely

but are usually around $50 one way.

Where to stay

The Ways are served by a wide assortment of bunkhouses, hostels, B&Bs and hotels. Easyways (www.easyways.com), a walker's accommodations service, will make arrangements for you at several different price levels.
